SD Blaster is a disinfecting concentrate based on a 6% aqueous solution of cetylpyridinium chloride, a quaternary pyridinium (quaternary ammonium-type) antimicrobial salt. It mixes readily with water in any proportion, forming clear, neutral-pH working solutions that are gentle on equipment surfaces while still delivering broad-spectrum antimicrobial action. Laboratory data cited by the manufacturer show effectiveness against gram-positive organisms such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Listeria species, gram-negative organisms including Salmonella, E. coli, Pseudomonas, and Campylobacter species, as well as fungi and enveloped viruses such as avian influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2. It is intended for disinfecting the external and internal surfaces of processing and auxiliary equipment, filling lines, and packaging machinery in poultry facilities. Working solutions do not require rinsing from treated surfaces after application, though the product should not be combined with strongly acidic solutions, alkalis, chlorine-based agents, or heavy-metal compounds, which can neutralize its antimicrobial activity.
