TVS Fresh is an aqueous solution of cetylpyridinium chloride, a quaternary ammonium antimicrobial compound formulated as a processing aid for poultry plants. It exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Listeria species, gram-negative bacteria including Salmonella, E. coli, and Campylobacter species, as well as fungi and enveloped viruses such as avian influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2. The product is applied as a dip or spray in scalding baths and carcass-chilling systems during processing, where it reduces the microbial load on raw poultry carcasses and thereby extends shelf life and improves food-safety outcomes downstream. Maximum permissible chemical residue on treated carcasses is capped at 4 mg/kg, and no withdrawal or waiting period is required after use, since the treatment is applied post-slaughter to the carcass surface rather than administered to live birds.
